At Conflits, we intend to provide an in-depth reflection on geopolitics, which in a way constitutes the general culture of our time, which allows us to have a synthetic view of the world.
Conflicts is the crossroads of all geopolitics, that of academics, the military, senior officials, businesses, because geopolitics cannot be reduced to relations between states. The "Manifesto for a Critical Geopolitics" that we define in the first issue sets out our principles of analysis: long-term geopolitics which is wary of immediate emotions, field geopolitics which assumes its links with geography, global geopolitics which studies all the forces at work, political, economic, social or cultural, realistic geopolitics which is wary of good feelings, geopolitics of suspicion which seeks to detect the interests at work behind the speeches.
A plurality of subjects
Conflicts is not, however, a journal intended only for specialists. We intend to attract to geopolitics not only students, but also the informed general public. Our presentation testifies to this, but also the originality of many of our sections: "grand strategy" which presents the geopolitics of an ancient Empire, "geopolitical tourism" which presents a large city from the angle of its influence and its power. , "The language of the media" to decipher false information, "art and geopolitics" because no civilization exists without culture, and so on.
Conflits thus presents an original and attractive face of geopolitics. Geopolitics studies the balance of power in space. As such, it is conceived on several scales, international as well as national. This is why we also have a "hands of France" section to honor French artisans, SMEs and mid-caps, inserted in their territories and open to globalization.
A universality of editors
Whether academics, military, researchers, writers, journalists, entrepreneurs, our editors come from different professional and cultural backgrounds. Many foreign contributors come to expand the analyzes of Conflicts, thus giving a pluralistic view of the world. There are also many resources: maps of course, an essential element of geopolitical analysis, but also podcasts, for in-depth conversations with the authors, and videos, for putting images on the march of the world.
