Among them included: Ava Gardner, Frank Sinatra, Brigitte Bardot, Lauren Bacall, Sofia Loren, Humphrey Bogart, Kim Novak, Joan Collins, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Clark Gable, Catherine Deneuve, Rita Hayworth, Orson Welles, Rosanna Schiaffino, Princess Grace of Monaco, Lady Diana, Liza Minelli and Rex Harrison. Newspapers used to be filled with stories of mundane events and mysterious stories about the fascinating Dolce Vita, of which Portofino became a symbol. Today, Portofino is still a place known for international tourism and the jet-set lifestyle.
