The Royal Chapel of Granada houses the remains of Don Fernando de Aragón, Da Isabel de Castilla, Da Juana I, Don Felipe I and the Infante Miguel. It is linked to the Cathedral but without merging into its architecture.
Its construction was ordered in 1504, carrying out the works between 1505 and 1517 with Elizabethan Gothic style. It is built with a single nave covered by Gothic vaults and decorated thanks to the generous donation of the Catholic Monarchs.
Inside, its fire-gilded wrought iron grill stands out, representing scenes from the Passion and Resurrection of Christ on the top; and others of the life and martyrdom of Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist, crowned by a Calvary.
In the center are the royal tombs and some small stairs lead us to the crypt where the lead coffins containing the remains of the royal family are found.
